Easy Black Forest Cake
Why is it that I always plan dessert recipe experiments on guests? It must be the mad scientist in me…Bwahaha.
The Easy Black Forest Cake seemed safe enough. I’d recently enjoyed a slice of it at my cousin Tami’s house. It was fabulous. (Everything she cooks is great!) She told me it was very easy. Later when I called to get the Black Forest Cake recipe, she was on her way to visit family and told me where to find the recipe online.
In looking for this recipe, the thing I discovered is there are a great many versions out there. I simply decided to do what many of you do; I picked what looked like the best one and then adapted it.
I added a bit of this and that, and used mini chips in the cake batter and made a ganache-type glaze which was rich and dark, undiluted by powdered sugar.
To my relief, the result was a moist Black Forest Cake fit for company. It’s so good I won’t wait for company to make it again.
The daffodils pictured here are for my friends who when they brought them to dinner, were tight little budlings, but they bloomed and in the following week were a sweet reminder of a pleasant evening.
(And whew! The cake turned out great!)
