Patriotic Popcorn at the Picnic

Pat pop 5I just had to share this with you.

I made jello popcorn this week for the family reunion.  It was easy to make and made a great presentation .

It's great for a last minute show stopper and was so delicious I was concerned it would never get

to the party.  But I managed to bag it up.

For the the white popcorn try my very easy
Best Kettle Corn Ever

Here's the recipe:

Jello Popcorn

1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon corn syrup
3 tablespoons water
Jello mix 3oz box ( 1/3 cup)
2 bags microwave popcorn

Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Prepare two 9 x 13 cake pans by lining with foil or baking parchment. Spray with vegetable spray.
Cover counter with parchment or wax paper
Pour popcorn into a large bowl removing old-maids.
In a medium saucepan, stir the ingredients together, over medium heat and bring to a boil.
Allow to boil constantly stirring it, for 3 minutes.
Drizzle Jello mixture onto the popcorn and gently stir it until the the popcorn is evenly coated.
Pour the popcorn onto the prepared pans.
Bake for 20 mins, stirring twice during baking.
Remove from oven and allow to cool in pans a few minutes then dump onto prepared counter.
Cool completely and break into chunks. Store tightly covered.

  1. I’ve been making jello popcorn balls for many many years. The recipe came from the jello cookbook. But I’m very excited about trying this one out. Uses less corn syrup and you bake it. My version you don’t have to bake, they turn out more gooey chewy. This version sounds like it will be more crispy crunchy. YUM!!!

  2. By the way, I want to lick the screen, that popcorn looks aeesome!

  3. Is the 9×18 cake pan a typo, or is there a pan that size? Please don’t think I’m being nitpicky, I actually want to know 🙂
