- 3 cups dry elbow macaroni or small shell pasta
- 4 cups milk
- 2 ½ cups shredded cheese
- 1 tsp. salt
- Pinch cayenne
- 1 tsp. Dijon mustard
- 1/2 cup peas
- 1 cup chopped cooked ham
- 1/3 cup sour cream opt
Stir together pasta and milk in a large saucepan.
Bring to simmer, stirring often. Do not allow mixture to boil.
Adding ham and peas halfway through cooking time, cook 12-15 minutes until pasta is al dente.
Remove from heat and add salt, mustard, cayenne and cheese.
If you would like a creamier dish, stir in the sour cream.
Serve at once.
