Ingredients

  • 3 cups dry elbow macaroni or small shell pasta
  • 4 cups milk
  • 2 ½ cups shredded cheese
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • Pinch cayenne
  • 1 tsp. Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup peas
  • 1 cup chopped cooked ham
  • 1/3 cup sour cream opt

Instructions

  • Stir together pasta and milk in a large saucepan.
  • Bring to simmer, stirring often. Do not allow mixture to boil.
  • Adding ham and peas halfway through cooking time, cook 12-15 minutes until pasta is al dente.
  • Remove from heat and add salt, mustard, cayenne and cheese.
  • If you would like a creamier dish, stir in the sour cream.
  • Serve at once.
