have a spontaneous Halloween Party with a DIY Cupcake bar. Make sweet little edible monsters and yummy, spooky ghosts with the kids. Here’s a fun and simple Halloween cupcake activity.  Offer frosted cupcakes and the candy  makings for decorating them ala Halloween.

I recently found myself shaking my head over my watch knowing that I had no time to make anything for the dessert I had offered to bring to a dinner party.  I  bought a few cupcakes (OK, not perfect here 🙂 ), and  they looked so plain and pitiful that I decided I’d better be clever somehow.  I had this crazy idea take form and threw a few Halloween candies and marshmallows in the bag with the cupcakes.

I took this offering to a friend’s house as the dessert.  It turned out that the grown-ups as well as the kids had a lot of fun playing with and designing their own Halloween cupcake.  This very simple and stress free Halloween  cupcake activity was a hit! Check out the marshmallow mummies and monsters.

I buttered a clean pair of scissors before cutting into the marshmallows.  These can be used as  cupcake toppers or a fun topper for hot chocolate or just gobbled up all alone.

We used candy corn, marshmallows, skittles, Hershey’s kisses, Nilla wafers, chow mien noodles, chocolate chips and extra buttercream frosting for ‘glue’.  Let your imagination run wild.

Oh, and did I mention that there was almost no clean-up?  Happy (stress free) Halloween! — Laura
